Rice
Rice has been our main product since the company started in 1919, and today we are one of the largest exporters of Non-Basmati rice.
Procedure
1. Procurement: our quality personell test quality at the point of procurement in all major rice growing states of India, including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Andra Pradesh, Telanghana and Karnataka.
2. Processing: if needed, cargo is brought to our plants in Nagpur or Mundra, and processed to meet the buyer’s quality and food safety requirements. All incoming and outgoing cargo is analysed in the quality laboratory.
3. Container stuffing: containers are stuffed at the plants or at the port. Our quality personell are again present to ensure that cargo is stuffed and containers are fumigated and sealed as per the norms.
Product and packaging quality
India’s farming and grain processing industry have made tremendous progress in the last decade. However, there are still many points we need to be careful about, such as infestation, bad odour, high moisture, damaged/discoloured kernels, higher broken percentage, etc.
With our century-long experience of handling rice, we have developed thorough checks and procedures that help us comply with the strictest quality and food safety norms.
For instance, we often double fumigate the cargo – once in our plant and again in the containers – to ensure there is no chance of infestation. We also do drop test of bags from a height of 15 feet to check for bag strength, along with many other such measures to ensure the product is up to standard.
Parboiled and steamed rice
Once paddy is harvested, there are three main paths:
1. Raw: paddy is milled directly
2. Parboiled rice: paddy is boiled and then milled
3. Steamed rice: paddy is steamed and then milled
While raw and parboiled rice were dominant earlier, steamed rice has also become popular over the last few years, especially for the Sona Masoori segment.
Varieties
Most rice varieties exported from India can be broadly categorised into Sona Masoori, Basmati and Non Basmati groups.
Sona Masoori Rice
Sona Masoori is a medium grain rice originally grown in southern India but now is also grown in central and northern India. We export Sona Masoori mainly to North American and Middle Eastern countries. It is primarily consumed by the Indian population living in these countries. We offer the following Sona Masoori varities.
Basmati Rice
We are focused in a selected range of pure Basmati varieties given below.
Non Basmati
Most major short, medium and long grain varieties that are not Sona Masoori are often considered to be under the Non Basmati umbrella.
Other varieties
IR 64, IR 36, IR 8, Mahamaya, 1010, Round Grain, Swarna, 100% Broken

Bag strength test
Often bags from India are of low strength, which causes wastage of rice for the customers. Our bags are super heavy duty (almost unbreakable). We do such a drop test on every batch of bags.
